About the Session:
This session presents findings from IBI's analysis of the National Study of Caregiving (NSOC) combined with real-world data from over 5,700 caregivers receiving comprehensive support services. The research quantifies the relationship between caregiver strain and workplace productivity, finding that caregivers experiencing high strain face 40 times greater odds of significant productivity loss, and that 44% of working caregivers -- even those not facing significant strains -- experience measurable productivity impacts.
The findings identify which caregiving tasks (personal care, medical management, and care coordination) drive the steepest productivity losses, and present evidence from real-world interventions showing meaningful reductions in caregiver stress and improvements in work engagement and absence avoidance. This session will walk through the research, its implications, and a recommended three-tiered intervention model that employers can use to identify and support their employee caregivers before strain escalates into productivity loss, leave utilization, or workforce exit
